  • CH – Chain

  • DC – Double Crochet (Treble in UK terms)

  • Cluster – Yarn over, insert hook into the space between shells two rows below, yarn over and draw up to working row. Repeat THREE times (7 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 6 loops, yarn over again and pull through last 2 loops.

Foundation (2 Rows)

  1. Chain 103 (or any multiple of 5 + 8 + 5).

  2. Row 1: DC in 4th chain from hook, DC in next 2 ch. Skip 2 ch, shell [2 DC, CH 1, 2 DC] in next ch, skip 3 ch. Repeat until 5 ch remain. Skip 2 ch, DC in last 3 ch.

  3. Row 2: CH 3, DC in next 2 sts. Shell in each CH-1 space across. DC in last 3 sts.

Kitty Section (3 Rows per Cat)

  • Row 3 – Kitty Body & Paws: Switch color. CH 3, DC in next 2 sts. Cluster between shells 2 rows below, shell in CH-1 space. Repeat. End with a cluster, DC in last 3 sts.

  • Row 4 – Kitty Face: CH 3, DC in next 2 sts. Shell in each shell from previous row. DC in last 3 sts.

  • Row 5 – Kitty Ears: Repeat Row 4.

Finishing Rows

  • Second-to-Last Row: Repeat Row 3 (Cluster – Shell).
